God these gas prices
So, yesterday gas prices jumped up again. They are now up to $3.61 a gallon. We will definitely break the $4 mark, and probably VERY soon. And on the note of high prices, I went to Subway yesterday and my footlong with just chips went from $7.59 to $9.99. Just in time for the summer tourist season. | | Saturday, April 14th, 2007 | | 10:52 am |
yeah, yeah, yeah
I'm at work not doing anything. Not because there isn't anything to do, but because I'm the only one here. So, I don't have to worry about people looking over my shoulder. YAY! It is so quiet here. The only sound, other than me typing, is the "tick, tick, tick" of the clock on the wall across the room. I decided to post today because I somehow stumbled across this guy's web page http://www.kmcdaniel.com/ and ended up stalking his LJ which made me think that I should post in mine. He takes some really nice pictures. I downloaded some free TV shows from iTunes, so I'll have something entertaining to do on the plane ride for Emily and I's trip at the end of next month to L.A. and the OC. I can't wait!! I love the beach and I haven't seen Phish and Tracy since Josh's funeral. It's going to be so much fun, and a great way to start the oh so horribly busy summer. Bug is making me kinda jealous. Apparently a bunch of my high school friends are now living back in Lake Arthur and he is hanging out with them all the time. It makes me want to move back home to relive those high school days and at the some time makes me happy that I'm not living there anymore because I would probably be getting into trouble that I'm too old for. But it does make me nostalgic. Those were some very fun times! Well, I have now waisted the whole morning, so I guess I really need to start working now. Stupid Dodge Neon!
I had a very enjoyable night. Bug and I went for an 1 1/2 drive down to Fort Collins in my car to get his tattoo touched up. This was my first trip out of town in my car since I got it back and Fort Collins is home to CSU, so there are quite a few college kids in their tuners roaming the streets ready to be fucked with. So, on our way to the tattoo parlor I blew by a Mitsubishi 3000GT. It didn't even look like they tried to race me. After Bug was done at the tattoo parlor we headed back home and ended up racing a Dodge Neon and a big Ford Super Cab truck three times. I beat the truck every time, but the fucking Neon kicked my ass!!! So, I'm thinking that I must have crossed over into an alternate dimension where crappy little 4 banger econo cars can smoke one of Japan's finest sports cars. Now granted this was the first time I've raced my car in like 4 years. I have gotten on my car a bit since I got it back, but this was the first time that I've tried to do a race start from a stop light, so I did manage to screw it up every time. That did slow me down, but not enough for a NEON to kill me. So, after our last run I ask the guy what the hell he has under the hood. He tells me a stock SRT engine. I'm not to sure what an SRT engine is, but I do know that Dodge has some performance enhanced cars, so I assume that's it. I don't believe him about it being stock though because Bug tells me that he could hear a turbo whistle every time he shifted. So, the whole way home I'm pissed that a Dodge Neon managed to kick my ass. We get home and I immediately get online and google Neon. Well, to my surprise up pops the 2003 to 2005 Dodge Neon SRT-4. It has, from the factory, a 230hp turbo-charged, inter-cooled 4 cylinder engine with a 0-60 time of 5.6 seconds and a retail price of $20,000. Compared to my 1990 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo with 300hp, a 0-60 time of 5.5 to 6 seconds depending on what car magazine you read, and a retail price of around $35,000. Thank You Dodge and all of the other car manufacturers who have jumped on the bandwagon and now sell pre-tuned pocket rockets that can blow me away straight from the factory for dirt cheap!!! So, I have definitely decided that as soon as the warranty is up on my new engine I will be adding aftermarket parts. First on the list are a high flow intake, performance exhaust, and a sport tuned ECU. These three parts will boost my horsepower to 403hp and I can't wait! | | Tuesday, September 19th, 2006 | | 11:08 pm |

Bad time of the year
I'm tired of being me. I'm tired of the way that I act. I'm tired of closing myself off and shutting people out. I'm tired of seeing other peoples lives and thinking how much better mine would be if I were like them. I'm tired of living in the past and/or the future. I'm tired of wanting to change and then not doing it. I'm tired of knowing all of these things and yet still being content enough to live with them. | | Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006 | | 9:17 pm |
I'm finally getting my car back
After 3+ years of it sitting in the garage in Lake Arthur broken, it's now fixed and ready for me to pick up. It has spent the last 6 months getting a new engine and turbos put in as well as a new interior and lots of exterior body work and a new paint job. It was supposed to be a restoration, so while I haven't seen it yet, It should look brand new. I fly down to Louisiana tomorrow to pick it up! I'm so fucking excited!!! I don't know what to do with myself
It's after 11 and I don't feel like doing to bed. I hit the end of the internet. I started playing Need for Speed Most Wanted for the 360 a few days ago and I'm already bored with it. Sim City takes too long to get anywhere. I have the latest episode of Project Runway Tivo'd, but I don't feel like watching it. So, I'm staring up at the blades of my ceiling fan going 'round and 'round and 'round. Current Mood: restless | | 2:30 pm |

I really need to get back into posting in this thing
So, work has been crazy busy, which is fun. And the retarded tourists who left their brains at home are a mixture of annoying and fun to point and laugh at. My sister Melanie is here which means the house is being redecorated/remodeled. Which I guess is good. It will look nice in the end, but I hate how we always spend the short amount of time that she is here doing these things. And we do this because she is the only one of us who doesn't procrastinate. The summer is flying by......life is flying by. I have been hitting up a few concerts. I bought Mom 2 tickets to Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young at Red Rocks Amphitheatre for her birthday/mother's day present and the concert was this past Tuesday. It was pretty cool. They played for 3 1/2 hours! And I have to say that Red Rocks is the best venue ever....period. Yesterday was the Vans Warped Tour which Bug, Jackie, Codey, and I went to. And I have to say that I definitely had a kikass time! 30 Seconds to Mars put on the best show. Less Than Jake is always awesome! And NOFX was cool once we figured out that we were standing at the wrong stage....haha, go us! Joan Jett & The Blackhearts performed my favorite song by them, "Bad Reputation," which we weren't at the stage for and the second I heard it drifting over the crowd I made a b-line for the stage but sadly I made it there right as they were finishing the song. Really I thought everyone we saw were good, except that I didn't care for Motion City Soundtrack as much as I thought I was going to. Friday is 311 which Bug, Melanie, her husband Jeff, and I are going to at Red Rocks. I can't wait!!! It's going to be SOOO much fun!!!! Hopefully, I'll get my warped tour pictures off of Mel's camera (which I fell in love with and didn't want to give back) soon. I think she forgot her cord, which sucks. Well I guess that's all for now. Current Mood: calm | | Wednesday, June 7th, 2006 | | 1:14 am |

It's Over
I UPS'd my final paper to my professor today. It feels great to be done with school! I know I always say that at the of a semester/degree and then a few weeks later say that I miss school, but I think this time is different. I actually think that I'm ready to be finished with school and ready for the next chapter to start. Well, I guess we'll see. So, now the only thing left to do is graduate! I haven't posted in while, so to update... I took the job at Windcliff. I started on the 17th and so far everything has been great. I've decided that I want to go to a million concerts this summer. So far I have tickets for The Fray, Warped Tour, and 311. I'm looking and there are so many more I want to go to like, Death Cab, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Counting Crows, and Dave Matthews Band, but I don't think I could get Bug to go to any more with me and going alone is just not fun. | | Saturday, March 18th, 2006 | | 1:12 am |
It's my (birthday) party and I'll cry if I want to...
So, today I turn the big 2-5. I have zero plans, so I'm sure this will be one of my best birthdays ever :( Not much has been going on over here. I finished my internship at Windcliff. It went great and they offered me a full time position making $12/hr with a performance based raise in 90 days. Which sounds pretty good to me. I'm sure I could find a better paying job somewhere other than Estes Park, but by being here and living at home I don't have to worry about paying rent, utilities, or anything else, so my whole paycheck would go right into my pocket. I haven't accepted the job yet. I've been weighing my options and I guess my biggest concern is that I miss New Orleans and everyone there and that I have no social life here. So, I don't know what I'm going to do. I wish I had an easy button. Current Mood: contemplative | | Tuesday, February 28th, 2006 | | 3:00 pm |
Oral Surgery
So, I'm leaving in about 5 minutes to get all four of my wisdom teeth extracted. How fun. Current Mood: nervous | | Saturday, February 25th, 2006 | | 6:21 pm |

When it rains, it pours.
Why can't relatives get along and be compassionate and understanding? So, Mom and Brian are leaving on Friday to go down to Lake Arthur to see about replacing the roof that was blown off of our house by Hurricane Rita and to get a headstone put on Josh's grave. Well, Mom calls my Aunt Diane today to see about getting together with her while Mom is down there to go to my grandparents house to find out what is left there and possibly get some furniture that I didn't need before the hurricane but now could use. But before Mom even has a chance to tell Aunt Diane what she was calling for, Diane tells her that she is so glad mom called her because she needed to tell Mom that she got what she wanted out of my grandparents house and that everything else that is left is going up for auction this Saturday at 10am. So, if we want anything we have to be at the auction on Saturday to buy the stuff. This is just CRAZY!!!! I just can't believe that my aunt is not going to allow my Mom, which is her only sibling, a chance to get the things that she wants. It is just outrageous that we are going to have to buy these things that are rightfully ours to begin with at an auction. I know if Mom hadn't called Diane we wouldn't have known about this till long, long after the auction was over. So now Mom and Brian are having to leave early to make sure they get down there in time for the auction. I'm am SO FUCKING PISSED RIGHT NOW!!! I went to mass this morning and it sucked.
Normally it's fine, but today father decided to go on a rampage over some Colorado legislature that is trying to get passed that will provide harsher punishments specifically to Catholic priests who molest children. The law would have no effect on any other child molesters. So, his point was that the law is unfair because it's targeting the Catholic church when it should apply to everyone. Now I agree with his point, but he didn't have to go on and on and on about it. Then, he quoted some stupid study from way back in 1971 that said that homosexuals are 73% more likely to prey on kids than heterosexuals, and it was at that point that I got pissed and almost walked out. I have never before felt like I was being personally attacked when in church, but today I definitely did and it sucked. The rest of the day has been good. Right after church I had the best conversation with an older couple who grew up in New Orleans and have retired up here. The husband grew up in the ninth ward back when it was a nice working class suburb, and the wife in uptown. I'm not sure what area of the city they were living in before they moved up here, but they did say that they are glad that they left before all of this mess. Then, we all had a nice laugh over the "chocolate city" comment and they told me that they found a map of New Orleans online that had the different areas of the city labeled with "dark chocolate," "milk chocolate," and "white chocolate" which sounds hilarious but I couldn't find it. I finally start my internship on Friday and I'm kinda nervous. I hope I live up to their expectations. I was hoping to fly down for Mardi Gras, but now that I'll be working full time, I don't think I will be able to get the time off. Which sucks, a lot. |
